The Socialism 2013 conference will bring together hundreds of activists from across the U.S., and around the world, to tackle the many discussions and debates that confront anyone interested in changing the world. How can women’s liberation and LGBT equality be won? What will it take to win real justice for immigrant workers? Can organized labor make a comeback? After the main stage performance every Thursday and Friday, stay to hear Chicago’s literary all-stars read their stories, personal essays and commentaries. Live Lit is curated and hosted by Ian Belknap, founder and host of WRITE CLUB, which features a rotating lineup of Chicago’s most audacious writers/performers.
Friday, June 28th
- Pride & Joy Kick-Off Event, 5:30-9:30pm, Center on Halsted, $20
Every year Center on Halsted hosts a Pride Dance Party on our fabulous rooftop deck overlooking the skyline from 5:30-9:30 pm. We host over 250 community members and allies to dance in celebration of the advancement of the LGBTQ movement while listening to music provided by DJ Marc “Moose” Moder and the evening’s host, Cyon Flare. In what has become one of Boystown’s most celebrated parties, it is sure to be an evening of celebrating community as we look to the years ahead. $20 admission includes 4 drink tickets that include Full-Bar Service.
Saturday, June 29th
- Chicago Dyke March 2013, 2pm, Margate Park
Chicago Dyke March Collective is a grassroots mobilization and celebration of dyke, queer, bisexual, and transgender resilience. It is an anti-racist, anti-violent, volunteer-led, grassroots effort with a goal to bridge together communities across race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, age, size, gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, culture, immigrant status, spirituality, and ability.
- Northern Lights Presents: Butch/Femme Pride w/Reaganomix, 9pm, Parlour on Clark, 6341 N Clark, $5 suggested donation
DJ Erik Roldan and Reaganomix will ring in Pride weekend with a joyous extravaganza in celebration of all gender expressions!
- Making Out Presents Lip Service, 10pm, Berlin, 954 W Belmont
See performance artists, straight improvisers, and queers of all kinds channeling their talents into the art of drag. Don’t worry, there will be some real queens on hand to make sure they look just right!

Stardust and Salonathon curators are teaming up to bring Chicago a Pride Matinee to remember! BURST! features illustrious Chicago DJs Teen Witch Fan Club, Swaguerrilla, BAATHHAUS (DJ Set), Alinka, and as well as performances on the hour by notorious local artists Deja K Taylor, Precious Jewel, Shea Coulee, LADY / WATCH, The Banjee Report, and MORE!

Benefit for Project Fierce Chicago. Project Fierce Chicago’s mission is to reduce LGBTQ youth homelessness in Chicago by providing affirming, no-cost transitional housing and comprehensive support services to homeless LGBTQ young adults. PFC also aims to encourage community-building and civic engagement through cooperative living and youth leadership development.
