This week, it was announced that Neil Patrick Harris will return to Broadway reprising John Cameron Mitchell’s Off-Broadway career starter Hedwig and the Angry Inch. This play is the predecessor to the film many LGBTQueerer folks know, with a few narrative deviations. Though a verified cult classic, and generally beloved for it’s kitsch and raucous score, it is not without it’s flaws; what do you like and dislike about Hedwig? Furthermore, what does it mean to not have a Trans* woman play the part (and to have one play her before)?
