Articles ranking the “Most Dangerous Neighborhoods” spring up from time to time, but they are rarely examined in depth. Rather than give voice to the people living in the community or offer solutions to violence they use statistics and outline blocks in various cities– never really explaining why and how the area is the way it is. What are the effects of ranking neighborhoods by “danger”? How do they help or hinder these communities? Further should this even be reported or could it be better reported?
