  • SASSY DASH, 9 AM, St. Scholastica Academy/UNO Rogers Park, 7416 N Ridge Blvd, $25

There was no way we couldn’t put this event on this list. Do Jessica the favor and attend, or share this with friends, or both!

From the facebook event:

The Sassy Dash is a charity run raising money for the last graduates of St. Scholastica Academy. Many of their graduation activities like yearbook and graduation celebrations have been cut out of the budget due to the school’s current finances. In a larger sense, proceeds from the SASSY DASH and other SASSY events will also be contributed to a scholarship fund for young women to attend a single sex high school of their choice. Due to the current economy, single sex education is shrinking rapidly, despite it’s positive affect on social growth, academic outcomes, and self- confidence. SASSY seeks to keep single sex education a viable option for young women who want to take this path.

Salonathon is back with Queer Cypher. In short, this week is a kick-ass hip-hop showcase. “This is a celebration; though both Chicago and hip-hop are known for their sometimes frustratingly deep wells of potential and contradiction, it is the essence of resilient community that draws forth strength, joy, and lasting, dynamic change. The Queer Cypher is that, a response -and- a call from and for those who have been marginalized, forgotten, left out of the club.
