Story Club Northside, The Holiday Club, 4000 North Sheridan, open mic sign up at 7, show starts at 7:30
A favorite live lit night among IOW writers, Story Club has its first show of the new year– starting out with a badass bang. There’s a cultural critic bird puppet and friend of the site Keith Ecker (formerly of Essay Fiesta, currently of Guts and Glory) and possibly you! Yes, you, because there are 4 open mic spots open. Get there early, get a nice drink, enjoy and or be a part of the show.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, 11 am -12:30 pm, Howard Brown Health Center, Community Room, 4025 N Sheridan
This is a weekly, free, peer support group for people living with depression, bipolar, and other psychiatric illnesses.
Youth Speak OUT!, 4 pm, Center on Halsted, 3656 Halsted
A free open mic that gives the stage to the youth to share their work.

Sunday, January 6th
Family of Women Book Group, 2pm Women and Children First Book, 5233 North Clark
A monthly group that reads works about women and their familial relationships; this month they are discussing Nora Ephron’s Hearthburn.
